We are finally seeing an easing to steel price increases and some reductions in a few cases. This is great news for everyone! Finally we can quote jobs with some sense that the material prices will not be ever escalating prior to order placement. Steel tubing for our hydraulic cylinders, however, still have extended lead times and raising prices. Only time will tell if the current steel prices will hold, go up or down. But at least it appears we have some stabilization in some steel products.
Also, since my last letter, we attended the GATS (Great American Truck Show) in Dallas in September. We had a wide variety of products there and many visitors continue to be surprised at the wide array of products we offer. The aluminum frameless dump trailer, half round pup trailer, MSF model 15’ steel dump body, pintle pull equipment trailer and our U-252 “one ton” steel dump made for a nice showing. However, we didn’t have all our products there. With winter coming on, remember we manufacture a complete line of ice control spreaders. Everything from our AC-620A tailgate spreader to a full sized chassis mounted E/AC-2420A hopper spreader and everything in between. We have a nice inventory of aluminum pick up spreaders as well.
This week I attended the auction of the McClain manufacturing plant in Demopolis, Alabama. We ended up buying several pieces of equipment that will enhance our production for Warren, Inc. The largest and nicest addition will be a 600 ton X 26’ long Pacific brake press. Now, we have the hard part of getting it moved and in service in Collins. Also headed to Collins is a large ESAB three headed plasma system, welding machines, etc. Please bear with us as we install this equipment.
